Easy Street @ Paddy’s Tavern Friday 24th May.

We had a great time playing to a very jovial audience at Paddy’s Tavern FTG.  Jan once again was singing up a storm, somewhat overheated at times (we were awfully close to the open fire!), Frank on Bass, Joseph with his Cajón, Tony on Guitar and me on my Flute, don’t know how we all squished on the stage but we did it, and we’re all still friends!  So many positive comments from the patrons and I was particularly happy to see social networking in action.  Thanks to my friends who came along to listen, laugh and join in our fun.  Hope we get to return to Paddy’s.  It really was a lovely venue.

Body & Soul @ The Treble Clef Jazz Lounge – Sunday 19th May,2013

What a fabulous afternoon!

A lovely Day!  The music was fantastic, the atmosphere perfect, a great appreciative audience and some of the best musicians to play along with.

Neil Taylor on Keyboard – such a privilege to play along side of, Frank Morgan – on Bass, and Joseph Darmenia on Congas, both very cheeky and fun too, the gorgeous Jan Blake singing up a storm and me on Flute – a great line up.  Made a bunch of new friends and look forward to the next time Body and Soul are at the Treble clef Jazz Lounge, in September.

Keep an eye out on the upcoming events for more details.

Jazz Notes @ Bar Oussou – Mother’s Day

After Jazz Notes residency at Bar Oussou last year, it was so nice to return and play some great music there again.

We had our usual lineup; Ann, Kevin, Andrew & Rob but with the addition of Joseph on percussion and my beautiful daughter Ashley, who joined us on her saxophone, there were some very special moments there!.  Juliane sang like and Angel and Luella was fantastic, in only her second outing with Jazz Notes.  Our friends and family are always so supportive and the crowd at Bar Oussou enjoyed a great late afternoon-evening of music.

It was a great way to spend Mother’s day.  I  am sure everyone enjoyed themselves just as much as I did.

Jazzin up Main Street Croydon – Sat 11th May, 2013

Had an absolutely fantastic time today with Jan Blake and Body & Soul, Jazzing up Main Street Croydon.  We were very lucky – the weather was beautiful, a fun, appreciative crowd, and there were many loyal friends stopping by, even the coffee request was fulfilled – Thanks to Andrew!  Numerous CD’s were sold.  Lots of great jazz in the street, people were enjoying the last minute mother’s day shopping experience.  Thanks Croydon Main Street Traders Association!

The Bluetone Jazz Band – Sunday 5th.

A lovely afternoon of Traditional Jazz, played to a very appreciative audience.  It was a lovely setting at the Roseville Retirement Village.  Played some truly fantastic songs, sharing the front line with 5 seasoned musicians, not to mention the swinging rhythm section, and my new friend Holly.  A great afternoon was had by all, hope we get a return invite real soon.

Jazz on Main Friday 3rd May.

Celebrating Jan’s birthday with Body and Soul at Jazz on Main.

It was a great night, wonderful music and an audience that really listened.

We had a few unavoidable changes to the line up but you couldn’t tell, we played like we’d worked together forever.  David Taylor was amazing with his double bass, just the most beautiful sounding instrument, Barrie Boyes, on all the sax’s, stepped in last minute and Boy did we have FUN!  Jan was singing like an angel, Alan Richards always superb and Neil “the Hat” Taylor,  the super-glue that holds us all together.

Me – well I had so much fun!

We played some new tunes tonight, they were all very well received.  Can’t wait for our next chance to play together again.  I particularly liked some of the special comments from the audience – thanks everyone!
