An evening at La Niche.

What a cute little French restaurant.  We were tight on space (un peu spongieux) but thank goodness I brought my petit flûte.

We played some really cool tunes, some romantic freSONY DSCnch songs, even got Antony to join us.  He showed us how to play a few of his favorites.

A lovely audience and some surprise diners.

I hope we’re back at La Niche again soon.  I really enjoyed myself.

Soirée Musique @ Francesca’s 25th September.

Another totally fantastic night of music with the Melbourne Music Performers.MMPlogo FBcoverpicIMG_5229

We (Kevin and me) took over the organizing of this event just over a year ago and we’re pretty pleased to say it just keeps getting bigger each month.  This night was fantastic, some new open mic performers, a wonderfully enthusiastic crowd, plenty of dancers and just a really good bunch of friendly,  talented, musicians.

So many happy members of the meet-up group making positive comments on line – thank you everyone.

The next event is October 17 – it’s earlier this month to coincide with the Darebin Music Festival.IMG_5248

Standing Tall in September.

I’m enjoying the opportunity to play with Standing Tall.  They play some really different music.

Open Studio in  Northcote on the 21st was a really great afternoon.  Quite a large audience for this cute little venue.  We had our new Trumpeter with us, very nice playing.

Dizzy’s on the 23rd, just a little quieter this month.  Didn’t have Tim on Guitar, Brae on Trumpet or Dean on Percussion, but we all Funked it up just the same.  Laurie, Suzanne and me certainly made up for those band members who were travelling OS.  A really fun night.

Standing Tall will be back at Open Studio on the 19th October and the 28th October at Dizzy’s.  We’ll be previewing our repertoire for the Wangaratta Jazz Festival which is on the following weekend.

A big thank you to my friends who come to listen and support me xx

Jazz Notes Duo – Treble Clef Jazz Lounge, Sunday 14th

SONY DSC SONY DSCIt was a beautiful, sunny, spring afternoon.

September is always lovely.

Lots of people enjoying the hospitality at the Treble Clef Jazz Lounge.

Thanks Damon, Chris and Bernie.

It’s a fun venue, just perfect for the lovely sounds of Kevin’s guitar with me adding my flutey bits..

We even got to wander through the vines.

Chris reminded us to be careful of the automatic sprinklers, they were due to come on any moment.

We’ll be back again on 9th November, so pop that date in your diary.

Easy Street Jazz @ Jazz on Main, Friday 5 September.

We hadn’t all played togetheIMG_4994r since Halls Gap earlier in the year, so after a few rehearsals it was really nice to get together for some fun at Jazz

on Main. Extra nice to have Douglas along on keyboard.
