EasyStreet at the 1812 – Ferntree Gully 31 May 15

After a busy few nights for me it was very nice to get together with my Easy Street Friends.

I’d accepted the invitation to play with them at the 1812 Theater a few weeks earlier – and was really looking forward to the gig.

This is a new regular event, we played as an guest spot for 45 minutes.  Lots of fun, good setup, and the sound was terrific.

Lots of friendly faces in the audience, made for a really fun afternoon.

So much fun, we’ve been invited to the main act on the July event.  Looking forward to playing with the lovely Jan Blake, Frank Morgan, Tony Robertson, Andrew Shemmeld & Douglas Scott Maxwell again.

Swingmasters & Jazz Notes @ Altona 30th May 15

This was one of my parents regular jobs, they are having a short break so they asked Peter & Angus to join Graeme, Kevin and Me – we had a really great night.  There was a good crowd, lots of dancing and some lovely comments.  People are really so nice!

Everyone enjoyed our music and were looking forward to the next time we”ll be at Altona – the 13th June.

Next time the line up will be Graeme, Kevin, Ann, Rob and Wade.

Jazz Notes @ The Showbiz Club

It was lovely to be invited to play at the Showbiz Club earlier this year and the first chance we could all attend was Monday, 25 May 2015

Wade, freshly back from NSW sang three great tunes which had the audience joining in.

I was invited to play with some of my friends, David Taylor, Neil Taylor and Alan Richards

Also got to play with Kevin and Colin in another group.

It was lots of fun and a great way to spend the week of my Birthday.

Thanks to Judee for inviting Jazz Notes with Wade Morgan to  The Showbiz Social Club.

We had a ball!

Melbourne Music Performers – The Ember Lounge 22 May 2015

Our regular monthly event with MMP (Melbourne Music Performers) Soiree Musique

It’s always a great night, we get the chance to meet lots of new members and the open mic performers are always something to listen to.

Sometimes we forget why this event is so important and why we are different!

We really try to give our members the opportunity to perform with a real band – we are not like other open mic events in that sense.  It’s all about the performance – getting it right, making our performers feel comfortable and helping them achieve their goals.

Yes, we do have some open mic spots but we are motivated to have our performers play with the house band. We get their charts before hand, offer them to the band and give our performers the best chance.

On any night of the week there are open mic events from inner city to the outer suburbs – if you just want to sing a song with your guitar or piano you should try one of those events, we’re all about the full performance experience.

That’s why we’re different.

Our next event is happening on 26 June.  Come and see how much fun we have!

Standing Tall @ Open Studio – May, 2015

Another fine afternoon at Open Studio.  Standing Tall ripping out some really funky tunes, our new CD was available to be purchased.

We’ll be back again at Open Studio on the 3rd Sunday in June – it’s our regular event in Northcote.

Hope to see you there.

Jazz Notes duo @ Open Studio – May

We played a lovely afternoon set at Open Studio.(16-5-15)

Some familiar faces in the audience and lots of new ones too.

Nice music, nice atmosphere and just the thing to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon in May.

We’ll be back on June 20  5 – 7  for more fun.

Jazz Notes @ The last Jazz on Main May – 2015

Jan and Noel Blake have run this monthly event for many years and this Friday night (8-5-15) was the last one.

Congratulations on offering so many jazz fans the chance to come and enjoy live music in a relaxed environment.
Jazz Notes (Ann, Kevin, Wade, Frank and Brendon) played on the night along with Blue Tango, Bailey Beat and Easy Street to support the fundraiser.
All money raised on the night sent to support the Isabella and Marcus Fund.

We are sorry to see another live music venue close down but sincerely thank Jan and Noel for their support of Live music in the eastern suburbs.

Thanks!

Altona Sports Club – Swingmasters & Jazz Notes – 2nd May

We were looking forward to having Wade Morgan sing with us again.  The dancing crowd enjoyed is voice and he even did a fair bit of grooving up altona 6 altona 5 wade1on the stage.

Lots of beautiful dancing.  Very friendly crowd, and some great feedback!

Graeme and Rob were solid, Kevin played some beautiful stuff.  I had a great night “tootin’ my flute” and a few dances too.

Thanks to everyone in the band for welcoming the new Swingmasters members to the band.   We really missed Wendy and I am sure she’ll be back on deck (or on stage) very soon.

We’re looking forward to more of the same, while John and Wendy have a short break.

Saying that – My father (John) arrived ready to play on Saturday Night – no sign of any injury.

We’ll be back at Altona again on the 30th May, slightly different line-up but the same amount of fun 🙂
